Springer-Verlag Wien 2013 Abstract Lamium mild mosaic virus (LMMV) is the only one of the five members of the genus Fabavirus for which there are no nucleotide sequence data. In this study, the complete genome sequence of LMMV was determined and compared with the available complete genome sequences of other members of the genus Fabavirus. The genome was the largest of the genus but maintained the typical orga- nization, with RNA 1 of 6080 nucleotides (nt), RNA 2 of 4065 nt, and an unusually long 3 0 untranslated region in RNA 2 of 603 nt. AbstractWe have synthesized capsid proteins of human papillomavirus types 6 (HPV 6) and 16 (HPV 16) in fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe and produced virus-like particles (VLP). The capsid proteins were localized in the nucleus by indirect immunofluorescence and cell fractionation analyses. The VLP were produced in both yeast clones synthesizing L1 alone and L1/L2 and purified by sulfato-cellulofine chromatography. Electron microscopic examination showed that these VLP were similar in structure to native HPV particles. International audience; Six monoclonal antibodies specific for the major capsid protein of rotavirus, VP6, previously characterized, were tested in a biological assay for their capacity to block the transcriptase activity associated with the single-shelled particles. The capsids of non-enveloped viruses are highly multimeric and multifunctional protein assemblies that play key roles in viral biology and pathogenesis. Despite their importance, a comprehensive understanding of how mutations affect viral fitness across different structural and functional attributes of the capsid is lacking. To address this limitation, we globally define the effects of mutations across the capsid of a human picornavirus. Using this resource, we identify structural and sequence determinants that accurately predict mutational fitness effects, refine evolutionary analyses, and define the sequence specificity of key capsid-encoded motifs. Parvovirus capsid disorders cholesterol-rich membranes.

In this study canine parvovirus, CPV, was found to induce disorder in DPPC:cholesterol membranes in acidic conditions. This acidicity-induced fluidizing effect is suggested to originate from the N-terminus of the viral capsid protein VP1. In accordance with the model membrane studies, a fluidizing effect was seen also in the endosomal membranes during CPV infection implying an important functional role of the fluidization in the endocytic entry of the virus.

ABSTRACT The minor capsid protein L2 of human papillomaviruses (HPVs) has multiple functions during the viral life cycle. Although L2 is required for effective invasion and morphogenesis, only a few cellular interaction partners are known so far. Using yeast two-hybrid screening, we identified the transcription factor TBX2 as a novel interaction partner of HPV type 16 (HPV16) L2.
